Product Overview
Clone 18P89 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes piwi-like protein 1 (gene PIWIL1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 98.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 99 kDa.
PIWIL1 (HIWI) is a Piwi-family Argonaute protein that binds piRNAs in the germline. Guided by these small RNAs, it cleaves transposon transcripts and helps silence transposable elements during spermatogenesis, protecting genome integrity, and it is also studied for its aberrant expression in some tumors.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): HepG2 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human PIWIL1.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places piwi-like protein 1 in the cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in spermatocytes and spermatids. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
