Product Overview
Clone 25P80 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes phospholipase A2, membrane associated (gene PLA2G2A) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 16.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 16 kDa.
Group IIA secreted phospholipase A2 is a Ca2+-dependent enzyme that hydrolyzes anionic phospholipids, especially those in bacterial membranes. It is a strong antibacterial factor against Gram-positive bacteria and an acute-phase protein that rises during inflammation, and it is studied in host defense, inflammatory disease and intestinal tumorigenesis in mice.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 1:1000–1:5000 |
|---|
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human A549 cells, human HepG2 cells, human RT4 cells, human Hacat cells, rat small intestine tissue, rat C6 cells, mouse small intestine tissue, mouse EL-4 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:500, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human PLA2G2A.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes phospholipase A2, membrane associated as secreted and also located in the cell membrane and mitochondrion outer membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in various tissues including heart, kidney, liver, lung, pancreas, placenta, skeletal muscle, prostate, ovary, colon and small intestine. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
