Product Overview
Clone AOAC-16 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes tissue-type plasminogen activator (gene PLAT) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 62.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 63 kDa.
Tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) is a serine protease that converts plasminogen into plasmin, the enzyme that breaks down fibrin clots. Released mainly by endothelial cells, it is a central regulator of fibrinolysis, also acts in the brain on synaptic plasticity, and recombinant tPA is a standard thrombolytic drug.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes tissue-type plasminogen activator as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Synthesized in numerous tissues (including tumors) and secreted into most extracellular body fluids, such as plasma, uterine fluid, saliva, gingival crevicular fluid, tears, seminal fluid, and milk. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
