Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects omega-hydroxyceramide transacylase (gene PNPLA1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and ELISA.
PNPLA1 is an enzyme in the epidermis that transfers linoleic acid from triglycerides onto omega-hydroxyceramides. This produces omega-O-acylceramides, highly hydrophobic lipids needed to build the lipid layers of the stratum corneum and the skin's water barrier. PNPLA1 mutations cause a form of autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis.
