Biological background

Protein function (datasheet): Involved in redox regulation of the cell. Reduces peroxides with reducing equivalents provided through the thioredoxin system but not from glutaredoxin. May play an important role in eliminating peroxides generated during metabolism. Might participate in the signaling cascades of growth factors and tumor necrosis factor-alpha by regulating the intracellular concentrations of H (2)O (2). Reduces an intramolecular disulfide bond in GDPD5 that gates the ability to GDPD5 to drive postmitotic motor neuron differentiation (By similarity). .

Cellular localization (datasheet): Cytoplasm . Melanosome . Identified by mass spectrometry in melanosome fractions from stage I to stage IV.

Tissue details (datasheet): Weakly expressed in most tissues. Expressed at higher level in heart, brain, kidney and pancreas and also in liver, lung, placenta, prostate and kidney. .

Research relevance and current trends

  • Commonly studied in contexts related to Atherosclerosis,Cardiovascular,Cell Biology,Metabolism,Oxidative Stress,Pathways and Processes,Redox Metabolism,Vascular Inflammation.
  • Supports comparative expression analysis across conditions, genotypes, or treatments when paired with appropriate controls.
  • Useful for confirming target presence and subcellular distribution using orthogonal readouts (e.g., microscopy vs. immunoblotting).

Common research applications

  • Western blot (WB): Compare relative target abundance and apparent size/isoforms across samples; interpret bands in light of expected MW and potential PTMs.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Assess tissue distribution and cell-type patterns; interpret staining with appropriate negative controls and antigen context.
  • Immunofluorescence / ICC: Visualize subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; consider fixation/permeabilization compatibility and controls.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify target-positive populations in single-cell suspensions; pair with viability and isotype/FMO controls conceptually.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Consider isoforms, post-translational modifications, and processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or localization.
  • Use appropriate positive and negative controls (e.g., KO/KD, blocking peptide, or isotype controls) to support specificity interpretation.

As a monoclonal antibody, this reagent is expected to recognize a defined epitope, which can support consistency across lots when epitope accessibility is preserved.

Can you help my question with product M01845, anti-PRDX1/Peroxiredoxin 1 Rabbit Monoclonal antibody. I was wondering if it would be possible to conjugate this antibody with biotin. I would need it to be without BSA or sodium azide. I am planning on using a buffer exchange of sodium azide with PBS only. Would there be problems for me to conjugate the antibody and store it in -20 degrees in small aliquots?
It is not recommended storing this antibody with PBS buffer only in -20 degrees. If you want to store it in -20 degrees it is best to add some cryoprotectant like glycerol. If you want carrier free M01845 anti-PRDX1/Peroxiredoxin 1 Rabbit Monoclonal antibody, we can provide it to you in a special formula with trehalose and/or glycerol. These molecules will not interfere with conjugation chemistry and provide a good level of protection for the antibody from degradation. Please be sure to specify this in your purchase order.
