Product Overview
Clone EFC-16 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes progesterone receptor (gene PGR) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 99.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 118 kDa.
The progesterone receptor (PGR) is a ligand-activated nuclear receptor that controls gene expression in response to progesterone. Its two main isoforms, PR-A and PR-B, have partly different activities, and signaling through them regulates the uterus, ovary and mammary gland. PR status is routinely assessed in breast cancer research.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human T-47D cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human ovarian cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human progesterone Receptor.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places progesterone receptor in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): In reproductive tissues the expression of isoform A and isoform B varies as a consequence of developmental and hormonal status. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
