Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes prolactin (gene PRL) in human samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 25.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 25 kDa.
Prolactin (PRL) is a peptide hormone secreted mainly by lactotroph cells of the anterior pituitary. Its best-known role is stimulating mammary gland development and milk production, but it also influences reproduction, metabolism and immune function, and serum prolactin is routinely measured in endocrinology research.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human) |
|---|---|
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): MCF-7 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Immunogen
E. coli-derived human Prolactin recombinant protein (Position: L29–227C). Human Prolactin shares 60% and 63% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse and rat Prolactin, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes prolactin as a secreted protein. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
