Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects vitamin K-dependent protein S (gene PROS1) in human samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 75.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 75 kDa.
Protein S (PROS1) is a vitamin K-dependent plasma glycoprotein that serves as the main cofactor for activated protein C in inactivating factors Va and VIIIa. It also enhances tissue factor pathway inhibitor and acts as a ligand for TAM receptor tyrosine kinases, and inherited deficiency increases the risk of venous thrombosis.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HepG2 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.

Recombinant human Protein S fragment (Leu291–Ser676), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes vitamin K-dependent protein S as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Plasma. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
