Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes prothrombin (gene F2) in rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 70.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 100 kDa.
Prothrombin (F2) is the vitamin K-dependent precursor of thrombin, the central protease of blood coagulation. Thrombin converts fibrinogen to fibrin, activates factors V, VIII, XI and XIII and platelets through PAR receptors, and with thrombomodulin activates the anticoagulant protein C. The prothrombin G20210A variant is a well-known risk factor for venous thrombosis.
