Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate 3-phosphatase and dual-specificity protein phosphatase PTEN in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot.

PTEN is a lipid and protein phosphatase that removes the 3-phosphate from PIP3, directly opposing PI3K and dampening AKT signaling. By restraining this pathway it limits cell growth, survival and proliferation, and it is one of the most frequently inactivated tumor suppressors in human cancer.

Validated Applications

Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat)

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide from the middle region of human PTEN identical to the related mouse and rat sequences.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate 3-phosphatase and dual-specificity protein phosphatase PTEN in the cytoplasm, nucleus, cell projection and postsynaptic density. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed at a relatively high level in all adult tissues, including heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, muscle, kidney and pancreas.

Safety

For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Handle with standard laboratory precautions.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat). Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide from the middle region of human PTEN identical to the related mouse and rat sequences.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
