Overview
This antibody is intended for detection of RAB14 (Ras-related protein Rab-14) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.
Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-RAB14 Antibody Picoband® catalog # PB9815. Tested in IF, IHC, ICC, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.
Key elements and design rationale
- Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
- Immunogen / epitope context: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of human RAB14, identical to the related mouse and rat sequences.
- Molecular weight context: reported MW: 24 kDa; calculated MW: 24 kDa
- Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
- Applications: IF, IHC, ICC, WB
As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.
Biological background
Ras-related protein Rab-14; Ras-related protein Rab-14. Ras-related protein Rab-14 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RAB14 gene. It is mapped to 9q33.2 based on an alignment of the RAB14 sequence with the genomic sequence. RAB14 belongs to the large RAB family of low molecular mass GTPases that are involved in intracellular membrane trafficking. These proteins act as molecular switches that flip between an inactive GDP-bound state and an active GTP-bound state in which they recruit downstream effector proteins onto membranes. Functional note: Involved in membrane trafficking between the Golgi complex and endosomes during early embryonic development. Regulates the Golgi to endosome transport of FGFR-containing vesicles during early development, a key process for developing basement membrane and epiblast and primitive endoderm lineages during early postimplantation development. May act by modulating the kinesin KIF16B-cargo association to endosomes (By similarity). Regulates, together with its guanine nucleotide exchange factor DENND6A, the specific endocytic transport of ADAM10, N- cadherin/CDH2 shedding and cell-cell adhesion. . Reported localization: Recycling endosome . Early endosome membrane ; Lipid-anchor ; Cytoplasmic side . Golgi apparatus membrane ; Lipid-anchor ; Cytoplasmic side . Golgi apparatus, trans-Golgi network membrane ; Lipid-anchor ; Cytoplasmic side . Cytoplasmic vesicle, phagosome . Recruited to recycling endosomes by DENND6A (PubMed:22595670). Recruited to phagosomes containing S.aureus or M.tuberculosis (PubMed:21255211). . Expression/tissue context: Overexpressed in bladder cancer cells (PubMed:17409436). .

Common research applications
- Western blotting: compare relative RAB14 (Ras-related protein Rab-14) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
- IHC/IHC-F: assess spatial distribution of RAB14 (Ras-related protein Rab-14) across tissue regions and cell types using matched controls.
- IF/ICC: evaluate subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; signal can depend on fixation/permeabilization and epitope accessibility.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
- Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
- Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
