Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects ras-related protein Rab-5A (gene RAB5A) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for IHC and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 23.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 24 kDa.
Rab5A (RAB5A) is the classic early endosome Rab GTPase. It drives fusion of endocytic vesicles with early endosomes by recruiting effectors such as EEA1 and Rabaptin-5 and is required for uptake of EGF and transferrin, making it a standard early endosome marker.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human K562 cells, human MCF-7 cells, human U251 cells, human PC-3 cells, rat brain tissue, rat C6 cells, mouse brain tissue, mouse Neuro-2a cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 12% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human intestinal cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).

Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of human rab5. It differs from the mouse and rat sequences at three residues.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places ras-related protein Rab-5A in the cell membrane, early endosome membrane and melanosome. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
