Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects DNA repair protein RAD51 homolog 1 in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 37.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 37 kDa.
RAD51 is the recombinase that carries out strand exchange in homologous recombination. Loaded onto single-stranded DNA with the help of BRCA2, it forms nucleoprotein filaments that search for and invade a matching template, and RAD51 foci are a standard readout of homologous recombination capacity.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human K562 cells, human Jurkat cells, rat liver tissue, rat C6 cells, mouse liver tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% bsa, primary antibody at 1:2000, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Recombinant human Rad51 fragment (Met1–Glu258), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse ortholog: 98%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places DNA repair protein RAD51 homolog 1 in the chromosome, nucleus, cytoplasm and mitochondrion matrix. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Highly expressed in testis and thymus, followed by small intestine, placenta, colon, pancreas and ovary. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
