Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-Raptor/RPTOR Antibody Picoband® catalog # A01463-3.

Biological background

Biological context: Conjugation of reduced glutathione to a wide number of exogenous and endogenous hydrophobic electrophiles.

Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cytoplasm., tissue context: Liver..

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): Compare RPTOR levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of RPTOR in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify RPTOR-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
  • ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.

Additional product notes (from provided fields)

  • Background: Regulatory-associated protein of mTOR also known as raptor or KIAA1303 is an adapter protein that is encoded in humans by the RPTOR gene. This gene encodes a component of a signaling pathway that regulates cell growth in response to nutrient and insulin levels. The encoded protein forms a stoichiometric complex with the mTOR kinase, and also associates with eukaryotic initiation factor 4E-binding protein-1 and ribosomal protein S6 kinase. The protein positively regulates the downstream effector ribosomal protein S6 kinase, and negatively regulates the mTOR kinase. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
  • Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
  • Cellular localization: Cytoplasm.
  • Tissue details: Liver.
  • Research category: Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling,Neurogenesis,Neurology Process,Neuroscience,Transcription
