Product Overview

Clone ACDC-18 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes retinol-binding protein 4 (gene RBP4) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 23.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 23 kDa.

Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) is the main plasma carrier of vitamin A. Produced mostly by the liver, it transports retinol in blood, often in complex with transthyretin, and delivers it to tissues through the receptor STRA6. RBP4 is also released by fat tissue and is measured in studies of vitamin A status, insulin resistance and metabolic disease.

Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200
Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence 1:50–1:200
Flow cytometry 1:20

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HepG2 cells, human hepatocellular carcinoma tumor tissue, human hepatocellular carcinoma paracancerous tissue.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Conditions in the example images (WB): 12% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:1000 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human RBP4.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes retinol-binding protein 4 as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in blood plasma and in urine (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
