Product Overview
Clone 17R95 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes RE1-silencing transcription factor (gene REST) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 121.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 160 kDa.
REST (also called NRSF) is a zinc-finger transcriptional repressor that binds the RE1/NRSE element found in many neuronal genes. In non-neuronal cells and neural progenitors it recruits the corepressors SIN3A and CoREST, which bring in histone deacetylases and LSD1 to keep neuronal genes silent, so REST is central to studies of neuronal identity, neurogenesis and brain disorders.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human REST / NRSF.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places RE1-silencing transcription factor in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in neurons of the prefrontal cortex, in hippocampal pyramidal neurons, dentate gyrus granule neurons and cerebellar Purkinje and granule neurons (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
