Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects retinaldehyde-binding protein 1 (gene RLBP1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 36.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 36 kDa.
Cellular retinaldehyde-binding protein (CRALBP, RLBP1) is a soluble retinoid carrier in the retinal pigment epithelium and Müller glia. It binds 11-cis-retinal and 11-cis-retinol and supports their regeneration in the visual cycle, which is needed for both rods and cones. RLBP1 mutations cause several inherited retinal dystrophies, and CRALBP is widely used as an RPE and Müller cell marker.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Mouse, Rat) |
|---|---|
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat eye tissue, mouse eye tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): HepG2 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human RLBP1 fragment (Glu3–Asp288), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places retinaldehyde-binding protein 1 in the cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Retina and pineal gland. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
