Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets retinoic acid receptor RXR-alpha (gene RXRA) in human and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 50.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 51 kDa.
RXRα (RXRA) is a nuclear receptor activated by 9-cis retinoic acid that acts as a shared dimerization partner for many other nuclear receptors, including RARs, PPARs, LXR and the vitamin D receptor. Depending on ligands and partners, these dimers recruit corepressors or coactivators to control genes in development, lipid metabolism and cell differentiation.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Rat) |
|---|---|
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human K562 cells, human A431 cells, human HepG2 cells, rat PC-12 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): HeLa cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human RXRA fragment (Met1–His133), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and rat. UniProt places retinoic acid receptor RXR-alpha in the nucleus, cytoplasm and mitochondrion. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in lung fibroblasts (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
