Product Overview
Clone CDB-18 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes ribosomal protein S6 kinase beta-1 (gene RPS6KB1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 59.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 59 kDa.
S6K1 (RPS6KB1, p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase activated by mTORC1 in response to growth factors and nutrients. It phosphorylates RPS6, eIF4B and other regulators to promote protein synthesis and cell growth, and it also provides negative feedback to insulin signaling via IRS1; phospho-S6K1 at Thr389 is a standard mTORC1 readout.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human 293T cells, human MCF-7 cells, human HepG2 cells, human HeLa cells, rat brain tissue, rat PC-12 cells, mouse brain tissue, mouse NIH/3T3 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places ribosomal protein S6 kinase beta-1 in the synapse, mitochondrion outer membrane and mitochondrion.
