Product Overview
Clone 19S08 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes SUMO-activating enzyme subunit 1 (gene SAE1) in human and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 38.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 38 kDa.
SAE1 (also called AOS1) is the smaller subunit of the SUMO-activating enzyme, working as a heterodimer with UBA2 (SAE2). This E1 enzyme uses ATP to activate SUMO proteins and passes them on to the conjugating enzyme UBC9, so it controls the first step of protein SUMOylation.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human Jurkat cells, human 293T cells, human MCF-7 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:1000 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:1000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human SAE1.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and rat. UniProt places SUMO-activating enzyme subunit 1 in the nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expression level increases during S phase and drops in G2 phase (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
