Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects septin-8 (gene Septin8) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 49.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 56 kDa.
Septin-8 (SEPTIN8) is a filament-forming septin GTPase enriched in brain and platelets. It is thought to support SNARE complex assembly at synaptic vesicles and platelet secretion, and one isoform stabilizes BACE1 and influences its sorting, linking it to amyloid precursor protein processing.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat C6 cells, mouse brain tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): RAW264.7 cells.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. UniProt places septin-8 in the cytoplasm, synapse, cell projection and presynapse. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
