Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes sodium-dependent serotonin transporter (gene Slc6a4) in rat samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 70.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 70 kDa.
SLC6A4 encodes the serotonin transporter (SERT), which clears serotonin from the extracellular space by sodium-coupled uptake into the cell. It sets the duration of serotonergic signaling in the brain and gut, is the target of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, and is also the route by which platelets accumulate serotonin.

Validated Applications
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 0.5–1 µg/mL (Rat) |
|---|---|
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Rat) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat brain tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): rat brain tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of rat SLC6A4. It differs from the mouse sequence at one residue.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with rat. UniProt places sodium-dependent serotonin transporter in the cell membrane, endomembrane system, endosome membrane and synapse. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (rat): Expressed in the intestinal crypt epithelial cells and myenteric neurons of the small intestine (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
