Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets shugoshin 2 (gene SGO2) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 144.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 180 kDa.
Shugoshin 2 (SGO2) works with protein phosphatase 2A to protect centromeric cohesin during meiosis I. By shielding the meiotic cohesin subunit REC8 from separase cleavage until the second meiotic division, it ensures sister chromatids stay together correctly, and it is essential for accurate gamete formation and fertility.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human A549 cells, human PC-3 cells, human MOLT-4 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): U2OS cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): Caco-2 cells, RT4 cells.

Recombinant human SGO2 fragment (Asn660–Glu1011), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places shugoshin 2 in the nucleus and chromosome. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
