Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects spindle and kinetochore-associated protein 2 (gene SKA2) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 14.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 20 kDa.
SKA2 is a small subunit of the three-part SKA complex at the outer kinetochore, where it is needed to recruit SKA1. The complex tracks depolymerizing microtubule ends together with NDC80, allowing proper chromosome segregation and the transition to anaphase once chromosomes are correctly attached.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human A431 cells, human U2OS cells, human PC-3 cells, human HEK293 cells, human HL-60 cells, human K562 cells, human Caco-2 cells, human HeLa cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): 293T cells, U2OS cells.

Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of human SKA2. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 90.0%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places spindle and kinetochore-associated protein 2 in the cytoplasm and chromosome. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
