Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects hepatic sodium/bile acid cotransporter (gene Slc10a1) in rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 39.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 50 kDa.
NTCP (SLC10A1) is a sodium-dependent transporter on the basolateral membrane of hepatocytes that takes up conjugated bile acids from portal blood, a key step in enterohepatic circulation. Human NTCP is also the entry receptor for hepatitis B and hepatitis D viruses, making it a major target in viral hepatitis research.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Rat) |
|---|
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat liver tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of mouse SLC10A1/NTCP1. The peptide sequence is conserved in rat.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with rat. UniProt places hepatic sodium/bile acid cotransporter in the cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Expressed in liver in higher amounts than isoform 2... The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
