Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-SLC22A3 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A04914-1.
Biological background
Biological context: Structural protein of the cytoskeleton.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Exhibits a filamentous organization., tissue context: Smooth muscle; contractile or vascular (for the long form)..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare SLC22A3 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of SLC22A3 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify SLC22A3-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Solute carrier family 22 (extraneuronal monoamine transporter), member 3, also known as SLC22A3 or OCT3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SLC22A3 gene. This gene is mapped to 6q25.3. Polyspecific organic cation transporters in the liver, kidney, intestine, and other organs are critical for elimination of many endogenous small organic cations as well as a wide array of drugs and environmental toxins. This gene mediates potential-dependent transport of a variety of organic cations. It may play a significant role in the disposition of cationic neurotoxins and neurotransmitters in the brain.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Exhibits a filamentous organization.
- Tissue details: Smooth muscle; contractile or vascular (for the long form).
- Research category: Vasculature
