Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects SMAD family member 1 (gene Smad1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 52.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 44 kDa.
SMAD1 is a receptor-regulated SMAD that carries bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signals. When BMP type I receptors phosphorylate it, SMAD1 binds SMAD4, enters the nucleus and regulates target genes, influencing embryonic development, cell differentiation and bone formation.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): SMMC cells, K562 cells, HT1080 cells, HeLa cells, Jurkat cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human lung cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A549 cells.

Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of mouse smad1. It differs from the rat sequence at one residue.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places SMAD family member 1 in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Ubiquitous. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
