Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets structural maintenance of chromosomes protein 2 (gene SMC2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 135.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 136 kDa.
SMC2 is a core subunit of condensin, the complex that compacts chromatin into rod-shaped mitotic chromosomes. Condensin is needed for proper chromosome condensation and segregation during cell division.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human 293T cells, human HeLa cells, rat C6 cells, mouse NIH/3T3 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A549 cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): 293T cells.

Recombinant human SMC2 fragment (Leu359–Lys1071), expressed in E. coli.
