Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects synaptosomal-associated protein 25 (gene SNAP25) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA.

SNAP25 is a neuronal t-SNARE that, together with syntaxin-1 and synaptobrevin, forms the SNARE complex that fuses synaptic vesicles with the plasma membrane. It is essential for neurotransmitter release and is the substrate cleaved by botulinum neurotoxins A and E, making it a standard synaptic marker in neuroscience.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places synaptosomal-associated protein 25 in the cytoplasm, cell membrane, synapse and photoreceptor inner segment. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Neurons of the neocortex, hippocampus, piriform cortex, anterior thalamic nuclei, pontine nuclei, and granule cells of the cerebellum.

Safety
