Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets sterol O-acyltransferase 1 (gene SOAT1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 64.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 75 kDa.
Sterol O-acyltransferase 1 (SOAT1, also called ACAT1) is an endoplasmic reticulum enzyme that joins fatty acyl-CoA, preferably oleoyl-CoA, to cholesterol to form cholesteryl esters. These esters are stored in lipid droplets, so SOAT1 helps control free cholesterol levels in membranes and contributes to lipoprotein assembly and dietary cholesterol handling; it is studied in lipid metabolism and foam cell biology.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human HUH-7 cells, human THP-1 cells, human HepG2 cells, rat liver tissue, mouse liver tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human breast cancer tissue, human prostatic cancer tissue, rat testis tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): PC-3 cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): Caco-2 cells, THP-1 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human SOAT1 fragment (Arg41–Tyr548), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 88.2% and 87.4%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places sterol O-acyltransferase 1 in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
