Product Overview
Clone AOEI-19 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes superoxide dismutase (gene SOD1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 15.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 16–18 kDa.
Superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) is a copper-zinc enzyme found mainly in the cytosol that converts superoxide radicals into hydrogen peroxide and oxygen, forming a first line of antioxidant defense. It can also help detoxify hydrogen sulfide. Mutations in SOD1 are a well-established cause of familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, so it is widely studied in oxidative stress and neurodegeneration.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human SIHA cells, human HEL cells, human HepG2 cells, human MCF-7 cells, human Jurkat cells, human HeLa cells, human PC-3 cells, rat brain tissue, rat C6 cells, rat liver muscle tissue, mouse brain tissue, mouse liver tissue, mouse Neuro-2a cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 12% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:1000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human breast cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human SOD1.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places superoxide dismutase in the cytoplasm and nucleus. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
