Product Overview
Clone GIA-19 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes transcription factor SOX-1 (gene SOX1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 39.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 39 kDa.
Transcription factor SOX-1 (SOX1) is a SoxB1 group HMG-box transcriptional activator expressed in neural progenitors. Together with SOX2 and SOX3, it helps keep neural cells in an undifferentiated state by counteracting proneural factors, and it is widely used as a marker of early neuroepithelium in neural development and stem cell studies.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human K562 cells, human Jurkat cells, human Caco-2 cells, rat brain tissue, rat PC-12 cells, mouse brain tissue, mouse Neuro-2a cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:1000 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places transcription factor SOX-1 in the nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Mainly expressed in the developing central nervous system.
