Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes sorcin (gene SRI) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for flow cytometry, ICC/IF, IHC and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 21.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 22 kDa.
Sorcin (SRI) is a penta-EF-hand calcium-binding protein that is abundant in heart muscle. It modulates ryanodine receptor RYR2 channels and supports calcium handling in the sarcoplasmic reticulum, so it is studied in cardiac excitation-contraction coupling.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human placenta tissue, human U2OS cells, human A431 cells, human PC-3 cells, human HL-60 cells, human K562 cells, human Caco-2 cells, rat lung tissue, mouse lung tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human intestinal cancer tissue, human lung cancer tissue, human mammary cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in citrate buffer (pH 6).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): U2OS cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): SiHa cells, U2OS cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of human SRI. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 93.3%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places sorcin in the cytoplasm and sarcoplasmic reticulum membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in cardiac myocytes. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
