Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects stanniocalcin-2 (gene STC2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 33.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 33 kDa.
Stanniocalcin-2 (STC2) is a secreted glycoprotein related to stanniocalcin-1 that affects calcium and phosphate homeostasis. It is induced by cellular stress and hypoxia, is known to inhibit the protease PAPP-A and thereby influence IGF signaling and growth, and is studied in metabolism and cancer.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human breast cancer tissue, human lung squamous cells carcinoma tissue, human placenta tissue, human rectum adenocarcinoma tissue, human testicular seminoma tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): PC-3 cells.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): human breast cancer tissue, human lung cancer tissue.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): MCF-7 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human Stanniocalcin 2/STC2 fragment (Ala51–Gln226), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 90.3% and 89.8%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes stanniocalcin-2 as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in a variety of tissues including muscle, heart, pancreas, kidney, spleen, prostate, small intestine, colon and peripheral blood leukocytes. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
