Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets phosphatidylglycerol lysyltransferase (gene mprF) in Staphylococcus aureus samples.
In Staphylococcus aureus, MprF is a bifunctional membrane enzyme that attaches lysine to phosphatidylglycerol and flips the resulting lysyl-phosphatidylglycerol to the outer leaflet. This reduces the negative charge of the bacterial membrane and helps the bacterium resist cationic antimicrobial peptides such as defensins, so MprF is studied in bacterial virulence and antibiotic resistance.
