Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets ATP-binding cassette sub-family C member 8 (gene ABCC8) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for flow cytometry, IHC, ICC/IF and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 177.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 177 kDa.
SUR1 (ABCC8) is the regulatory sulfonylurea receptor subunit of the ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channel, which it forms with the pore subunit Kir6.2 (KCNJ11). In pancreatic β cells this channel links glucose metabolism to insulin release, and it is the target of sulfonylurea drugs.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
|---|---|
| IHC (frozen sections) | 0.5–1 µg/mL |
| Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence | 0.5–1 µg/mL |
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human placenta tissue, rat brain tissue, mouse brain tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): A431 cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the middle region of human SUR1. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 97.7%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places ATP-binding cassette sub-family C member 8 in the cell membrane. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
