Product Overview
Clone ABB-2 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes baculoviral IAP repeat-containing protein 5 (gene BIRC5) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 16.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 16 kDa.
Survivin (BIRC5) is the smallest member of the inhibitor of apoptosis family and a subunit of the chromosomal passenger complex with Aurora B, INCENP and borealin. It is required for chromosome alignment and cytokinesis during mitosis and has been linked to apoptosis inhibition. Survivin is highly expressed in most tumors but low in most adult tissues.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human Jurkat cells, human K562 cells, human Raji cells, human PC-3 cells, human U2OS cells, human 293T cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human gastric carcinoma tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human survivin.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places baculoviral IAP repeat-containing protein 5 in the cytoplasm, nucleus, chromosome and midbody. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed only in fetal kidney and liver, and to lesser extent, lung and brain. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
