Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes syndecan-1 (gene SDC1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 32.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 60 kDa.
Syndecan-1 (SDC1, CD138) is a transmembrane proteoglycan carrying heparan sulfate and chondroitin sulfate chains. It binds growth factors and matrix proteins, links the cytoskeleton to the extracellular matrix and supports exosome formation, and CD138 is widely used as a plasma cell and epithelial marker.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human placenta tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Recombinant human Syndecan-1/SDC1 fragment (Gln23–Gly254), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 69.2% and 69.8%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes syndecan-1 as secreted and also located in the membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in placenta (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
