Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets synemin (gene SYNM) in human and mouse samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 172.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 180 kDa.
Synemin (SYNM) is a type VI intermediate filament protein found mainly in muscle. It co-assembles with desmin and vimentin and binds proteins such as dystrophin, utrophin, talin and vinculin, linking the intermediate filament network to costameres and other junctions in striated muscle, so it is studied in muscle structure and myopathy research.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, mouse heart tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): THP-1 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human SYNM fragment (Arg93–Asp1554), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse ortholog: 68.1%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and mouse. UniProt places synemin in the cytoplasm and cell junction. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Isoform 2 is strongly detected in adult heart, fetal skeletal muscles and fetal heart. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
