Product Overview
Clone HAB-13 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes microtubule-associated protein tau (gene MAPT) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 78.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 50–80 kDa.
Tau (MAPT) is a microtubule-associated protein enriched in neuronal axons, where it binds and stabilizes microtubules and helps maintain axonal transport. Abnormal phosphorylation causes tau to detach from microtubules and form aggregates, the hallmark of neurofibrillary tangles in Alzheimer′s disease and other tauopathies, which makes it one of the most studied proteins in neurodegeneration research.
