Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of Tff3 (Alkaline phosphatase, placental type) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-TFF3 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A01738-3. Tested in ELISA, IF, IHC, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Mouse, Rat. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: E. coli-derived mouse TFF3 recombinant protein (Position: A23-F81). (reported region: A23-F81).
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 12 kDa; calculated MW: 57954 MW
  • Reactivity: Mouse,Rat
  • Applications: ELISA, IF, IHC, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

Alkaline phosphatase, placental type; trefoil factor 3. Trefoil factor 3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TFF3 gene. It is mapped to 21q22.3. Members of the trefoil family can interact with mucins and have an influence on mucus viscosity. They also promote migration of epithelial cells, are linked to antiapoptosis, induce cell scattering, trigger chemotaxis, and participate in immune responses. This gene is a marker of columnar epithelium and is expressed in a variety of tissues including goblet cells of the intestines and colon. It has been found that TFF3 is the most highly upregulated gene in 19 poorly differentiated endometrioid endometrial carcinomas (G3-EECs) compared with normal endometrium biopsies. Functional note: Involved in the maintenance and repair of the intestinal mucosa. Promotes the mobility of epithelial cells in healing processes (motogen). Reported localization: Secreted, extracellular space, extracellular matrix. Expression/tissue context: Expressed in goblet cells of the intestines and colon (at protein level). Expressed abundantly in goblet cells of intestine and colon, and at low levels in stomach. No expression in brain, lung, spleen, kidney, uterus, pancreas, liver, heart or thymus.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Cytoskeleton/ECM: Researchers commonly examine how Tff3 (Alkaline phosphatase, placental type) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • ECM Proteins: Researchers commonly examine how Tff3 (Alkaline phosphatase, placental type) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Extracellular Matrix: Researchers commonly examine how Tff3 (Alkaline phosphatase, placental type) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative Tff3 (Alkaline phosphatase, placental type) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • IHC/IHC-F: assess spatial distribution of Tff3 (Alkaline phosphatase, placental type) across tissue regions and cell types using matched controls.
  • IF/ICC: evaluate subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; signal can depend on fixation/permeabilization and epitope accessibility.
  • ELISA-compatible use: when applicable, interpret signal as relative abundance across sample sets with consistent handling and dilution strategy.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
