Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets tissue factor pathway inhibitor (gene TFPI) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 35.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 55 kDa.

Tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) is a Kunitz-type protease inhibitor that controls the start of blood coagulation. It first binds and inhibits factor Xa and then blocks the tissue factor–factor VIIa complex, and it is studied in hemostasis, thrombosis and hemophilia research.

Validated Applications

IHC (paraffin sections) 0.5–1 µg/mL (Human)
Western blot 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human)

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): SMMC cells.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human placenta tissue, human lung cancer tissue.

Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of human TFPI.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Mostly in endothelial cells. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide and thimerosal (a mercury compound) as preservatives. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human); IHC (paraffin sections) 0.5–1 µg/mL (Human). Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 35.0 kDa; observed band at about 55 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of human TFPI.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
