Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets TGF-beta receptor type-2 (gene TGFBR2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 64.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 65 kDa.

TGF-β receptor type 2 (TGFBR2) is a constitutively active transmembrane serine/threonine kinase that binds TGF-β1, β2 and β3 directly. Ligand binding lets it recruit and phosphorylate TGFBR1, launching SMAD signaling, and TGFBR2 mutations are linked to Loeys-Dietz syndrome and to some cancers.

Validated Applications

Western blot 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat)

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): HepG2 cells, COLO320 cells.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide from the middle region of human TGF beta Receptor II. The peptide sequence is conserved in rat and mouse.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places TGF-beta receptor type-2 in the cell membrane, membrane raft and SUBCELLULAR LOCATION:. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide and thimerosal (a mercury compound) as preservatives. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat). Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.Has this antibody been tested on canine samples?
A.Reactivity with canine samples has not been tested by the supplier. Aligning the immunogen sequence with the canine ortholog (e.g., by BLAST) helps estimate the chance of cross-reactivity.
Q.Is a carrier-free (BSA-free) version available, for example for conjugation?
A.Yes. A carrier-free formulation without BSA, stabilized with trehalose and/or glycerol, can be prepared on request and is compatible with common conjugation chemistries. Please note this when ordering or contact info@biohippo.com. For storage at −20 °C, keep a cryoprotectant such as glycerol in the buffer rather than PBS alone.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 64.6 kDa; observed band at about 65 kDa.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide from the middle region of human TGF beta Receptor II. The peptide sequence is conserved in rat and mouse.
