Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets metalloproteinase inhibitor 1 (gene Timp1) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 22.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 28 kDa.
TIMP-1 is a secreted tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases that binds the catalytic zinc site of many matrix metalloproteinases, including MMP-9, and blocks their activity. It also has growth factor–like, MMP-independent effects on cell survival and proliferation. TIMP-1 is studied in extracellular matrix remodeling, fibrosis, inflammation and cancer.

|---|---|
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Mouse, Rat) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): mouse lung tissue, mouse liver tissue, mouse kidney tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): RAW264.7 cells, RH35 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant mouse TIMP1 fragment (His31–Asn193), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. UniProt describes metalloproteinase inhibitor 1 as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Found in fetal and adult tissues. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
