Product Overview
Clone AAOD-20 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes metalloproteinase inhibitor 1 (gene TIMP1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 23.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 26 kDa.
TIMP-1 is a secreted tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases that binds the catalytic zinc site of many matrix metalloproteinases, including MMP-9, and blocks their activity. It also has growth factor–like, MMP-independent effects on cell survival and proliferation. TIMP-1 is studied in extracellular matrix remodeling, fibrosis, inflammation and cancer.

Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human TIMP1.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes metalloproteinase inhibitor 1 as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in rheumatoid synovial fluid (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
