Product Overview

Clone EFD-20 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes troponin I, cardiac muscle (gene TNNI3) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 24.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 28 kDa.

Cardiac troponin I (cTnI, TNNI3) is the inhibitory subunit of the troponin complex expressed only in heart muscle. It suppresses actomyosin ATPase activity until calcium binds troponin C, and its phosphorylation fine-tunes cardiac contraction and relaxation. Because it is released from damaged cardiomyocytes, cardiac troponin I is a standard biomarker of myocardial injury.

Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human heart tissue.

Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human troponin I.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:1000–1:5000; Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200; Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence 1:50–1:200; Immunoprecipitation 1:20. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 24.0 kDa; observed band at about 28 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human troponin I.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.Long term: −20 °C for up to 12 months. Frequent use: 4 °C for up to 1 month. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
