Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects short transient receptor potential channel 5 (gene TRPC5) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 111.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 111 kDa.
TRPC5 is a canonical transient receptor potential channel that lets calcium and sodium into cells after receptor activation and is highly expressed in the brain. Studies in mice link it to hypothalamic control of feeding, anxiety and social behaviors, and it can partner with TRPC1 and TRPC4, making it a research target in neuroscience and kidney biology.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): HeLa cells, U87 cells, COLO320 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:1000.
Immunogen
Recombinant human TRPC5 fragment (Lys684–Leu973), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse ortholog: 90%.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places short transient receptor potential channel 5 in the cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in brain with higher levels in fetal brain. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
