Product Overview

Clone 20F49 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes mitochondrial fission 1 protein (gene FIS1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 16.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 15 kDa.

Mitochondrial fission 1 protein (FIS1) is a tail-anchored protein of the outer mitochondrial membrane and peroxisomes. It contributes to fragmentation of the mitochondrial network, partly by helping recruit the fission GTPase DRP1, although other adaptors play larger roles in mammals. FIS1 is studied in mitochondrial dynamics, mitophagy and cell stress; it is also conserved in Drosophila.

Validated Applications

Western blot 1:500–1:2000
Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200
Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence 1:50–1:200

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): Raji cells.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human TTC11.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places mitochondrial fission 1 protein in the mitochondrion outer membrane and peroxisome membrane. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:500–1:2000; Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200; Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence 1:50–1:200. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 16.9 kDa; observed band at about 15 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human TTC11.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.Long term: −20 °C for up to 12 months. Frequent use: 4 °C for up to 1 month. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
