Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-UBAP2L Antibody Picoband® catalog # A07183-3.
Biological background
Biological context: Binds to bile acids and is involved in enterohepatic bile acid metabolism. Required for efficient apical to basolateral transport of conjugated bile acids in ileal enterocytes. In vitro binds to bile acids in the order: deoxycholic acid > cholic acid > chenodeoxycholic acid and respective BA conjugation modifies affinities in the order taurine-conjugated > glycine-conjugated > unconjugated bile acids. Stimulates gastric acid and pepsinogen secretion. Essential for the survival of colon cancer cells to bile acid-induced apoptosis.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cytoplasm. Membrane. Peripheral membrane protein. Cytoplasmic side., tissue context: Isoform 1 is expressed in the jejunum, ileum, cecum and ascending colon intestine. Isoform 2 is xpressed in the gallbladder, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum, ascending, transverse and descending colon, sigmoid colon and rectum. Isoform 2 is expressed in colorectal adenocarcinomas and their adjacent normal mucosa..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare UBAP2L levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of UBAP2L in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Immunofluorescence / ICC: Assess subcellular localization patterns and co-localization with compartment markers in cultured cells.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify UBAP2L-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Ubiquitin-associated protein 2-like is a protein that in humans is encoded by the UBAP2L gene. Ubiquitin-associated protein 2-like (UBAP2L), which contains a ubiquitin-associated (UBA) domain near its N-terminus, has been indicated in the pathogenesis of several human cancers, including multiple myeloma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and malignant ovarian tumors. UBAP2L is closely associated with tumor growth and metastasis. UBAP2L has a key role in glioma cell growth and may act as an oncogene to promote malignant glioma development. UBAP2L also plays an important role in breast cancer cell proliferation and might serve as a potential target for breast cancer treatment. UBAP2L plays a critical role in the maintenance of the metastatic ability of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells via SNAIL1 Regulation and is predictive of a poor clinical outcome.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Cytoplasm. Membrane. Peripheral membrane protein. Cytoplasmic side.
- Tissue details: Isoform 1 is expressed in the jejunum, ileum, cecum and ascending colon intestine. Isoform 2 is xpressed in the gallbladder, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum, ascending, transverse and descending colon, sigmoid colon and rectum. Isoform 2 is expressed in colorectal adenocarcinomas and their adjacent normal mucosa.
