Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes dicarboxylate carrier SLC25A8 (gene UCP2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 33.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 33 kDa.
UCP2 (SLC25A8) is a mitochondrial inner-membrane carrier. Once thought mainly to leak protons, it is now described as exporting four-carbon Krebs cycle intermediates such as oxaloacetate from the matrix in exchange for phosphate, thereby shaping glucose and glutamine oxidation and redox balance. UCP2 is studied in metabolism, insulin secretion and oxidative stress.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat spleen tissue, rat cardiac muscle tissue, rat brain tissue, mouse spleen tissue, mouse cardiac muscle tissue, mouse brain tissue, human HeLa cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.

Synthetic peptide from the middle region of human UCP2. It differs from the mouse and rat sequences at one residue.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places dicarboxylate carrier SLC25A8 in the mitochondrion inner membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Widely expressed in adult human tissues, including tissues rich in macrophages.
